"Independent Teacher is both an achievement and a resource: an achievement in the sense of documenting the sophisticated level of thinking about teaching that is practiced in independent schools and a resource for all teachers interested in the art of teaching and the exigencies of learning."
-- Pat Bassett, President of NAIS

Independent Teacher is an electronic journal which publishes articles on curriculum and pedagogy, across all grades and disciplines, of particular interest to independent school teachers. It is our hope and intention to promote lively discussion and debate about education that will be useful and interesting to independent school educators.
We have assembled an editorial board of 17 teachers from a number of independent schools across the United States who will review all submissions.
We hope that you will consider submitting an article to Independent Teacher. At present, we publish two issues each year, November and May. The deadlines for submissions are September 15th and March 15th.
Subscriptions to Independent Teacher are free, and we will publish an issue by e-mailing a link to each of our subscribers through which they can read the current issue (and previous issues as well.) Of course, Independent Teacher is always available to anyone via the Web.
Your comments and suggestions are welcome. Please e-mail independentteacher@nais.org.
Finally, we hope that you will mention this journal to any of your colleagues who may be interested in writing for or subscribing to Independent Teacher.
